Wynn--post-op Friday
Around 3:30 p.m., the surgeon came to talk to Meg and I in the waiting room, explaining that everything went well. He informed us that one of us would be able to go see Wynn while they monitored his vitals very carefully coming out of the anesthesia. Mama Meg went first. While I waited for her to come back and report on Wynn's condition, my old mission companion, Mike Taylor, stopped by. He works at the VA hospital in his last year of residency and is primed to accept a position in Boise. Meg returned shortly thereafter, let me know Wynn was groggy but alright, and then I ventured back there for about 10 minutes. Wynn was awake, but very groggy. His eyes would respond to my voice, but other than that, he had no movement. My 1 year old baby boy was stoned.
Wynn was becoming increasingly alert. He was moved to the room we stayed in the rest of our stay. There, he drank some more apple juice and slowly gained his dexterity back. He liked the feel of the BYU teddy bear--one of the gifts from his Aunties Erin/Lindsay and Uncles Ben/Randy. A couple hours after surgery, Wynn showed some serious signs of activity. He yanked off the pulse monitor on his index finger (which was then fastened to his big toe), and shortly thereafter, took down a sample box of cheerios, as well as yogurt, and few other things not apple juice. I don't think the kid will want anything to do with apple juice for awhile. He had apple juice before the surgery, and that was the only thing he could have right after surgery.

Brent and Diane came to visit that evening. Wynn has many fans...including the hospital staff who helped him.
